Puppy Obedience Training – How to Quiet Your Barking Dog

At times puppy obedience training becomes really difficult especially when your puppy keeps barking and you can’t get him to stop.

Most of the times, your puppy will stop barking if you give him a stern command to stop or use words like ‘hush’ or ‘shhh’, but there would be occasions when he simply refuses to listen to you.

However, you need to have patience and figure out the reason for his barking rather than getting angry and punishing your little puppy.

Dogs enjoy barking and if your little puppy is barking just for the fun of it, you can teach him to stop during his puppy leash training by pulling the leash every time he barks a little too much.

However, this is not the only reason for dogs to bark. There can be a number of reasons for your puppy to keep barking incessantly. One of the common reason is your puppy is in pain because he is hurt or is suffering from some ailment that is not apparent.

It is also possible that your puppy is scare of something or someone around and he wants to be kept away from that person or thing, which might need you to soothe it and try allaying those fears.

Sometimes puppies bark just to show that they are bored. Try spending some time with them yourself or take them out for a short walk.

If you can’t spend time with them get them some new toys that than keep them entertained. Sometime they bark just to get some attention.

If you shout at your puppy when he barks a lot and he barks back, he might think it is some kind of game and continue doing it. However, if you start ignoring him and not respond to his barking at all, he will go silent after a short while.

You can reward him with some sausages or his favorite biscuits once he stops barking. This will encourage him to stop barking for long durations.

Some breeds of dogs such as German shepherd and Alsatians needs a lot of exercise right from the days of their dog obedience training.

They need physical activity to keep them hale and happy. If you own one such breed it is advisable to take them to the park and give them a good running space.
